Louis L. Yourtz, a native Denverite who owned Jack and Jill childrens shoes in the late 1950s, passed away Jan. 20, 2010, in Denver.
Rabbi Richard Rheins officiated at the Jan. 22 graveside service at Rose Hill Cemetery. Feldman Mortuary made the arrangements.
Mr. Yourtz was born June 18, 1916, in Denver. He graduated North High and attended CU.
He married Ruth P. Muhlstein in August, 1940. She passed away on Oct. 17, 2006.
During WW II, Mr. Yourtz served with the US Army and was stationed in the South Pacific.
A shoe salesman, he owned the Jack and Jill store in the late 1950s and later worked for Burts Shoes and Chandler Shoes. He retired from Fortius Shoes in 1980.
Mr. Yourtz is survived by his children Ian Yourtz, Gary (Terri) Yourtz, Lisa (Ed) Myers, David (Cindy) Yourtz, Denise (Bill Anderson) Hanna and Michael Yourtz; 13 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
