Lois Cohodas

Centenarian Lois Cohodas, mother of Nancy (Paul) Oberman of Denver, died on May 18, 2023. She was 105. A service was held on May 23 in Marinette, Wisc. A service will be held in Denver in June, with the date to be determined, and in San Antonio, Texas on July 23. Porter Loring Mortuary in San Antonio is handling the arrangements.

A native of Chicago, Ill., Mrs. Cohodas was born on Oct. 23, 1917. She attended Carleton College and the University of Chicago, and lived in Appleton, Wisc., Ishpeming and Marquette, Mich., and Sarasota, Fla., before moving to San Antonio.

Mrs. Cohodas (née Wenk) was married to William “Bill” Cohodas for 76 years before Mr. Cohodas’ passing in 2016, at the age of 101.

“Lois was current — current in her style, current in her conversation and current in her interests,” her family said. “She even voted in her last election following her 105th birthday!”

Survivors are daughters Nancy (Paul) Oberman and Lynn (Rabbi Samuel) Stahl; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Contributions may be made to the Denver Center for the Performing Arts, Planned Parenthood, Temple Beth-El of San Antonio or Temple Beth Sholom of Marquette, Mich.
