Lilly Edelstein Radford, a Holocaust survivor who lived in Denver for many years, passed away May 8, 2015, in Raanna, Israel. Services were held May 10, 2015, in Israel.
“A survivor of Auschwitz, she was always grateful for the small things in life,” her loved ones said. ”Her eternal optimism was her best quality.
”She was a true Jewish mother who received pleasure from feeding her family and all who joined her table. She had the unique capacity to keep her memories beautiful and available to all.”
Mrs. Radford was born April 16, 1928, in Salgotarjan, Hungary. She attended elementary and middle school in Hungary until she was transported to Auschwitz.
After liberation, she studied at an ORT school in a Displaced Persons Camp.
She married Ray Rosenberg Radford on July 6, 1949. Mr. Radford passed away on July 25, 2003.
Mrs. Radford was a homemaker and seamstress. She lived in the Bronx and Los Angeles before moving to Denver.
A member of Womens American ORT, she also volunteered with the Allied Jewish Federation to support newly arrived Russian Jews in Denver.
Mrs. Radford is survived by her children Lynn Farber, Joseph Radford and Claire Knaizer; grandchildren Eliana, Roni, Dov, Moshe, Jeni, Ray, Rachel and Sam; and great-granddaughter Sydney.
