Leone Kaufman-Niemiec

Leone A. (Diner) Kaufman-Niemiec, a native Denverite, passed away Jan. 3, 2020, in Racine, Wisc. She was 94. Rabbi Martin Edelberg officiated at the private family burial service held Jan. 7 in Racine.

Mrs. Kaufman-Niemiec was born June 25, 1925, in Denver.

A graduate of East High School, she attended DU and belonged to the Delta Phi Epsilon Sorority.

Leone Diner married Dr. Benjamin Kaufman on April 19, 1943, and the couple moved to Racine. Dr. Kaufman passed away in 1981.

She married John Niemiec on March 7, 1986. Mr. Niemiec died in 2005.

Mrs. Kaufman-Niemiec was active at Racine’s Beth Israel Sinai Congregation, where she served as Sisterhood president. She volunteered for the Racine Theater Guild.

Leone Kaufman-Niemiec is survived by her twin brother Ed Diner of Denver; son Charles (Susan) Kaufman; daughter-in-law Linda Kaufman; grandchildren Cara (Craig) Ziegler, Michael (Carmen) Kaufman and Timothy (Kelly) Kaufman; and great-grandchildren Catelyn and Jack Ziegler and Andrew and Mason Kaufman.

She was predeceased by her beloved son Marc Kaufman.
