Leonard Lenny Ruback, an employee at Franklin Furniture for more than 30 years, passed away Nov. 24, 2011, in Denver. Rabbi Steven Foster officiated at the Nov. 28 service held at Temple Emanuel.
Interment followed at Emanuel Cemetery. Feldman Mortuary made the arrangements.
Mr. Ruback was born Dec. 28, 1923, in St. Louis, Mo. He graduated Soldan High in St. Louis and earned a BFA from Washington University in 1949.
A cryptographer for the US Army Air Corps stationed in Cuba in WW II, he was the first person on the island to learn that the war had ended.
Mr. Ruback married Alice Wolff on Jan. 15, 1949.
For more than 30 years, he worked at Franklin Furniture. He retired in 1985.
Mr. Ruback is survived by his wife Alice Ruback; children Dona (David) Wise of Atlanta, Ga., Jann (A.J.) Gest of Denver and Lois Zuckerman of St. Louis; grandchildren Kim (Elana) Wise, Jordan Wise, Julila Wise, Jacob (Audrey) Gest, Tovah (Logan) Fair, Maren Gest, Rachael Zuckerman, Jeffrey Zuckerman, Aaron Zuckerman; and great-grandchildren Ahuvah Wise and Tzvi Wise.
