Leon Sonny Brin, a prolific Colorado architect, passed away May 22, 2010, at his home in Denver.
Family and friends gathered May 25 at Shalom Funeral Service/Horan & McConaty to pay tribute to Mr. Brin. Funeral arrangements were made by Shalom and Horan & McConaty.
Leon was a kind soul and a very loving and caring man, said his dear friend Donna Paul. He had a great appreciation for and knowledge of music.
Mr. Brin was born July 31, 1925, in Ft. Dodge, Iowa, and was raised in the apartment above his fathers furniture store in Webster City.
He attended CU and received a degree in architecture from the University of Texas-Austin in 1949.
At age 28, he became the youngest architect in Colorado to own his own firm.
Mr. Brins firm produced over 600 projects, including office, retail, apartment and industrial buildings, as well as town homes and residential properties.
He retired in 1984.
Mr. Brin, who cherished his friends and family, loved tennis, skiing, golf and the performing arts. He regularly attended chamber music concerts, the symphony, opera and theater, and took a keen interest in politics.
He is survived by his daughter Taina and son Theo; his sister Trudy and brother Bradley; and four granddaughters.
