Lee Tepley, PhD

Lee Raymond Tepley, a Denver native, physicist and documentary filmmaker, passed away peacefully on Sept. 6, 2017, in Kailua Kona, Hawaii. The family held a private service.

Mr. Tepley was born May 30, 1928, in Denver to the late Ida and David Tepley.

He attended East Denver High School, earned a BS in physics at CU and a PhD at UCLA.

Mr. Tepley retired from his position as physicist at Lockheed Martin in California to pursue his love of the ocean and underwater photography.

Owner of Moonlight Productions, he filmed a number of documentaries as well as underwater segments for TV dramas.

He retired in August, 2017.

Mr. Tepley is survived by his wife Mary;  his son Robert Tepley; brother Dr. Norman Tepley; two stepdaughters; and his beloved dog Alejandro.
