Lea Fuchs

Lea FuchsLea Fuchs, a Holocaust survivor, passed away Jan. 31, 2014, in Denver. Rabbi Bruce Dollin and Cantor Martin Goldstein officiated at the Feb. 3 graveside service at Golden Hill Cemetery. Feldman Mortuary made the arrangements.

“Our mother always taught us by example that it is a mitzvah to do good things for others but expect nothing in return,” said her daughter Anna Bekerman. “I will miss talking to and seeing her every day.”

The family said attending synagogue and volunteering at a senior day care center brought her much joy.

Lea Fuchs was born on Aug. 25, 1926, in Ostrolenka, Poland, to Sara and Srul Kozlowicz.

She met and married her beloved Isaac Fuchs at a Displaced Persons camp in Russia.

The couple went to Hallein, Austria and eventually emigrated from Salzburg, Austria to Denver in 1951.

Mr. Fuchs passed away Nov. 14, 1985.

Mrs. Fuchs is survived by her daughters Marsha (Richard) Stein, Rochelle (Joe) Bekerman and Anna (John) Bekerman; grandchildren Mark (Lori) Stein, Adina Stein, Ben Bekerman, David (Erika) Bekerman, Sarina (Matt) Schneider and Joshua Bekerman and Alyssa Bekerman; and great-grandchildren Nathaniel Stein, Elliot Bekerman, Levi Bekerman and Campbell Schneider.
