Landau named BMH-BJ associate rabbi

Rabbi Joel LandauRabbi Joel Landau is BMH-BJ’s new associate rabbi. In addition to working closely with Rabbi Selwyn Franklin and the BMH-BJ executive staff, Rabbi Landau will be responsible for the congregation’s education and social programming as well as typical rabbinic duties.

Rabbi Landau spent the last six years in Israel working with organizations dedicated to breaking the cycle of poverty that has been plaguing a large segment of Israeli society.

Before moving to Israel with his wife Johni and their children Malki, Shalhevet, Shachar, Barak, Tzachi and Tehela, Rabbi Landau had a successful 16-year rabbinic career in Charleston, SC, and Irvine, Calif. On both coasts he succeeded in energizing his congregations through creative and innovative programming for all ages. As a result both communities enjoyed significant spiritual and physical growth.

President Mark Boscoe said, “We are very privileged to have such a seasoned and qualified individual fill our education and programming needs.”
