The holiday of Shavuot.
No matzah and no seder.
No shofar.
No sukkah and no lulav or etrog.
No Purim masks.
No Chanukah candles.
No tefilin.
Just the Torah. That’s all.
Just the echo of that thundering voice at Sinai.
Just the Constitution of Western civilization.
Just the protocol of the Jewish people; the arresting calligraphy of the scroll itself; the ethics, the morals, the soul-soaring rituals; the teachings of tzedakah, kindness, tikkun olam. Just “love your neighbor as yourself.”
That’s all. Just the Torah.
