Centenarian Julius (Julie) Pluss died April 16, 2022, five months after his 100th birthday. A service was held at HEA on April 18, officiated by Rabbi Bruce Dollin. Feldman Mortuary made the arrangements.
Mr. Pluss was born on November 22, 1921 in Greeley. He graduated from UC Boulder in 1943 with a degree in business, and then became an officer in the Marine Corps.
After completing basic training, Mr. Pluss married Rose Schmerman. They were married 76 years before Mrs. Pluss’ passing in February, 2020.
Following the end of WW II, Mr. and Mrs. Pluss settled in Denver. Julie went into partnership with his father, Sam Pluss, in the cattle business. Mr. Pluss was a past president of the Colorado Cattle Feeders Assn. He was also a member of the Denver Rotary, and was involved in a number of other charities and organizations.
“Julie was a true patriarch of the family and a pillar of the community,” Mr. Pluss’ family said. “He was valued by so many in the community for his generosity and kind spirit, and was truly adored and loved by everyone who was in his presence.
“He taught all about integrity, honor and what it means to be a good citizen.”
Survivors include his children; Dr. Richard (Annette) Pluss, Jane E. (the late Stanton) Rosenbaum and Dr. William (Susan) Pluss; and six grandchildren.
