Judy Urman, a Holocaust survivor, passed away Sept. 14, 2017, at Shalom Park. Rabbi Rick Rheins led a memorial celebration of life service Sept. 17 at Temple Sinai. Shalom Funeral Service made the arrangements.
Mrs. Urman was born on May 15, 1927, in Magdeburg, Germany.
Escaping Germany with her parents, she spent the war years in Shanghai, China.
She met Ernie Urman in Shanghai, and they were married on June 1, 1947.
After stays in Israel and Austria, the couple came to the US in 1952 and Denver in 1960.
They raised their family here, built a successful insurance agency and lived the American dream.
In October, 2012, Mrs. Urman realized a lifelong dream and published her life story From Quiet Hope to Freedom in English and German.
She shared her Holocaust experiences with numerous area schools and civic groups.
The Urmans were married for 66 years prior to Ernie’s passing on Jan. 2, 2013.
Mrs. Urman is survived by her children Ruth Leland (Bob) and Frank Urman (Evelinda); and grandchildren Ilana, Max and Dani Urman, Tami Leland and Shannon Tuininga.
She was predeceased by her son Danny.
