Judy Cohen

Judithe “Judy” Cohen, a Denver resident since 2018, succumbed to Alzheimer’s disease on Jan. 8, 2020, in Aurora. Rabbi Emily Hyatt officiated at a private burial service for the family Jan. 12 at Emanuel Cemetery. A memorial service followed at Temple Emanuel. Feldman Mortuary made the arrangements.

Judy Cohen was born Nov. 10, 1939, in Philadelphia, Pa., to Max and Thelma Gordesky. A graduate of Overbrook High School, she then trained in medical technology.

Upon graduation, Mrs. Cohen assisted physicians at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania.

She met Jay Cohen during a trip to Charleston, W. Va. They married on Jan. 6, 1963, and later moved to Texas.

Mrs. Cohen worked for Friendswood Development Co. in Clear Lake City, Texas, and became manager of the Home Finding Center.

She belonged to the Women’s Council of Realtors in Bay Area, Texas.

Mrs. Cohen, who was forced to retire when she was diagnosed with esophogeal cancer, developed a love for quilting. She joined the Bay Area Quilt Guild and regularly entered juried shows.

Judy Cohen is survived by her husband Jay Cohen; children Matthew Cohen of Houston and Jennifer Aboaf of Centennial; four grandchildren; and sister Merle Molish of New Port Richey, Fla.
