Former New Jersey judge and US Army veteran Ronald Parker passed away on January 4, 2023, in Livingston, NJ. He was 89. A service was held on January 5 at Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel in Livingston, NJ. Burial was at Beth Israel Cemetery in Woodbridge, NJ. Rabbi Avi Friedman and Cantors Janet Roth and Perry Fine officiated. Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman made the arrangements.

Judge Parker was the father of Sue Parker Gerson, senior associate director at the Anti-Defamation League Mountain States Region, and father-in-law of former Rodef Shalom Rabbi Bernard Gerson.

Born in Brooklyn, NY, Judge Parker was a first-generation American and the first person in his family to go to college. He attended Brooklyn College and received an MBA at New York University, achieving his law degree at Seton Hall.

Judge Parker was a military police sergeant in the US Army. On August 7, 1960, he married Adrienne Romer. The couple was married until Mrs. Parker’s passing in June, 2000.

In 1980, Gov. Brendan Byrne appointed Judge Parker as a New Jersey Administrative Law Judge. Prior to his appointment, worked as the court administrator of Passaic County, NJ. Before becoming an attorney he worked at Macy’s.

“Judge Parker was the consummate family man who was eager to know all about the lives of his children and grandchildren and friends,” his family said. “He inspired so many when he shifted careers in midlife and made lasting impressions with his decisions on the bench as a judge.”

Survivors are children Sue Parker (Rabbi Bernard) Gerson, Emmy (Harry) Atlas and Jeff (Nancy) Parker; grandchildren Rabbi Chayim (Chaya Miriam) and Jennie Gerson, Elana and Noah Atlas, and Robbie and Aaron Parker; and great-grandchildren Naomi, Yehuda and Yaeli Gerson.
