Jill Friedman Fixler, 61, a dynamic leader in Denvers non-profit world, passed away Nov. 29, 2014, at her home in Arapahoe County. Rabbis Joseph Black and Evette Luttman officiated at the Dec. 2 service at Temple Emanuel.
Interment followed at Emanuel Cemetery. Feldman Mortuary made the arrangements.
Fixler, the founder and president of JFFixler Group, fought a long battle with myelofibrosis, the family said.
She was an engaging personality and an excellent consultant who continually helped all of us to be the best we can be, said Rabbi Bruce Dollin, past president of the Rocky Mountain Rabbinical Council.
He added that Fixler and her team provided executive and organizational training to newly arrived rabbis in the Rocky Mountain region.
In addition to launching programs for many non-profit organizations, she initiated volunteer programs for the Downtown Aquarium, National Jewish Health and others.
Fixler was born Aug. 23, 1953, in Berkeley, Calif., and grew up in Denver.
Trained at Lake Forest College and CU, she developed a volunteer program for the Denver Dumb Friends League in the 1980s and extended her abilities to many organizations.

While in college, she met Peter Fixler, the love of her life. They were married on June 27, 1976.
Fixler founded JFFixler Group in 2002 to share her consulting expertise nationally and internationally. She authored two books on volunteer engagement.
Diagnosed with the leukemia-related illness in 1997, she fought it valiantly for more than a decade and did not give up her professional life until 2013.
She described the battle as having been a life gift that allowed her to focus her attention on her family and friends, according to her loved ones.
Jill Friedman Fixler is survived by her husband Peter Fixler and son Joshua Ron (Annie) Fixler; her mother Audrey Friedman Marcus; and her sister Rabbi Dayle Friedman, brothers Glen Friedman and David Marcus and their families.
