The Jewish claim to the land of Israel

There is blatant anti-Semitism out there. Check this:

“At this point, if Netanyahu appeared on TV with a necklace made from the teeth of Palestinian children, would anybody be surprised? #Gaza.”

That’s a tweet from a professor whose job at the University of Illinois was (thankfully) rescinded.

Try this:

“Our brothers and sisters in Palestine are slaughtered by the Jewish pigs.”

That’s a Facebook post from a Swedish politician who (thankfully) quit his campaign.

Or this:

Posting a picture of dead bodies, “The media aren’t there. Why? The same people who created ISIS control the media: Senior Zionists.”

Anti-Semitism is breaking out around the world — and it’s all about Israel (the “Jewish pigs” are Israelis). The anti-Zionism is anti-Semitism. In recent weeks at the IJN, it’s taken many pages to include stories of anti-Semitism around the world.

In light of events — and of a verse in this week’s Torah portion, “The entire commandment that I command you today you shall observe . . . so that you may . . . come and possess the Land that the L-rd swore to your forefathers” — I thought it advisable to revisit this column of last Dec. 27. We cannot remind ourselves often enough of our rights to, and the meaning of, the land of Israel.
