Jerry Thaler

Jerry Thaler

Gerald “Jerry” “Yank” Thaler, a Westsider who ran an antique gallery on South Broadway, passed away March 28, 2021, in Denver after a lengthy battle with cancer. Rabbi Rick Rheins officiated at the private graveside service held March 31 at Golden Hill Cemetery.

“His sweet, caring and gentle soul will be remembered and cherished by all who had the good fortune to have known him,” his family said.

Mr. Thaler grew up in Denver’s Jewish West Side. He loved all sports, particularly tennis, which he first played as a teenager at North High School.

While at North, he won many couples matches with Errol Payne, his best friend from the West Side.

In 1972, Mr. Thaler married Mr. Payne’s sister Terri.

After retirement, Mr. Thaler pursued his passion for collecting, restoring and selling antiques.

For 19 years, he rented out a small booth in the Colorado Antique Gallery on South Broadway. Customers loved his “old stuff,” and loved him as well.

Jerry Thaler is survived by his wife Terri Thaler; children Todd, Scott and Kelli; grandchildren Nathan and Devin; and niece Lori Spanbauer and family.

Donations in his memory may be sent to the Alan Farber Memorial Camp Scholarship Fund, Temple Sinai, 3509 S. Glencoe St., Denver, 80237; or charity of choice.
