Jerry Lande

Jerry Lande, who founded the West Side Reunion in 1985 to unite friends and family under the spell of their unforgettable youth, passed away Nov. 30, 2019, in Denver. Rabbis Bruce Dollin and Salomon Gruenwald officiated at the Dec. 2 service at the HEA. Interment followed at Rose Hill Cemetery. Feldman Mortuary made the arrangements.

“He was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather, and a published poet,” his loved ones said.

Mr. Lande was born Feb. 9, 1930, in Pueblo, Colo.

He grew up on Denver’s West Side and moved to Southmoor Park in 1966, where he lived until he died.

Mr. Lande attended North High School, graduated from DU and served in the US Air Force for two years.

He married Norma S. Goldberg on March 21, 1953. Mrs. Lande passed away in June, 1986.

Mr. Lande was in business with his brothers Bernie and Harold (now deceased), at Lande Manufacturing Co., which sold upholstered furniture wholesale throughout the Rocky Mountain region.

He retired in 1984.

Founder of the popular West Side Reunion in 1985, he was active at the JCC and belonged to the HEA.

Mr. Lande appeared in the pages of the Intermountain Jewish News for decades, as well as the 2011 documentary “West Side Stories” directed by Steve Feld.

Jerry Lande is survived by his children Laurie Lande (Jay Dworkin), Marcie (Yaakov) Calm and Fran Lande; grandchildren Nathan Muller, Lisa Muller, Abby and Joe Hirsch, Yoni and Tzippy Calm, Elie and Aviva Calm, Naomi and Hillel Shaps, Aliza and Yosef Fried; and 16 grandchildren.
