Jerome Shain

US Air Force veteran Jerome “Jerry” Shain died on January 19, 2024. He was 87. A service was held on January 23 at Rose Hill Cemetery, officiated by Rabbi Benjy Brackman. Feldman Mortuary made the arrangements.

Born in New York on July 5, 1935, Mr. Shain’s parents, Anna and Sol Shain, were immigrants from Kiev.

Following high school, Mr. Shain joined the Air Force during the Korean War and was stationed at Lowry Air Force Base, and later, Lake Charles (La.) Air Force Station.

In July, 1956, Mr. Shain married Charlotte Rowley. They were a couple until Mrs. Shain’s passing in November, 2015.

Mr. Shain worked for the US Postal Service in Denver, Salt Lake City, Utah, and Oakland, Calif. He reached the executive position of National Labor Relations Manager prior to retirement.

Mr. and Mrs. Shain returned to Colorado to be close to their family, and lived in Louisville.

“Dad always had a joke to tell . . . sometimes often repeated,” his family said.

Survivors are children Jacqueline (Joseph) Somma, Allen (Karen) Shain, Daniel (Helene) Shain and Marcie (David) Hoerig; grandchildren Nolan Ryan Somma, Rachele Faye Somma, Hannah Janelle Shain, Sarah Rose Shain, Kellen Saul Shain, Cole Evan Shain, Logan Shain, Izaak Prats, Ethan Michael Hoerig and Kati Reese Hoerig; and great-grandchildren Charlotte Somma-Kanagy, Campbell Murphy, Grayson Shain, Weston Shain, Brooklyn Shain and Peyton Shain.
