Jean Bayer Kauvar, described by her family as the quintessential homemaker, passed away Nov. 17, 2012, in Denver. Rabbi Ben Greenberg and Cantor Joel Lichterman officiated at the Nov. 19 graveside service at Mt. Nebo. Feldman Mortuary made the arrangements.
My mother was kind, generous, modest, forgiving, supportive, optimistic, son Kenneth said. She was also generous, dignified and caring.
Mrs. Kauvar was born on March 6, 1918, on the upper West Side of Manhattan.
She graduated Julia Richmond High School in New York and Hunter College, where she majored in biology.
On Aug. 22, 1943, she married Dr. Abraham J. Kauvar.
During WW II, Mrs. Kauvar worked for the War Information Board in New York City.
The couple moved to Denver in 1945.
Dr. Kauvar passed away on Aug. 26, 2003.

A docent at the Denver Art Museum for several years and a member of Hadassah, Mrs. Kauvar was past president of the Womens Auxiliary at National Jewish Hospital.
She also was very interested in art.
Her hobby was taking care of her husband and family, Kenneth said.
Mrs. Kauvar is survived by her children Kenneth (Joanne) Kauvar, Jane (John) Athens, Larry Kauvar and David (Arielle) Kauvar; grandchildren Eloise (Adam) Hirsch, Emily (Jacob) Shabason and Isaac Kauvar, Marika, Allison and Noah Athens and Ellery, Darien and Hadley Kauvar; great-grandchildren Penelope and Charlotte Hirsch; and brother Abba Bayer.
