Janice Viner Selix passed away peacefully on Feb. 21, 2014, following a brief illness. She was 94.
There was a celebratory gathering at the San Francisco Towers on Feb. 24.
She was warm, gracious, proud, caring and artistic, the family said. She continually gave of herself and generously contributed to those in need.
Always a lady, she inherited a wonderfully dry sense of humor from her fathers English roots. She lived a full and active life into her 90s and maintained a lovely, comfortable home surrounded by beauty.
The family said the grandchildren called her Mom, Granny, Janny, GJ, GGJ, and thought she was the coolest grandmother around.
Mrs. Selix was born in Stockton, Calif., to the late Rose and Phillip Viner. She had two brothers, the late Irving and Bud Viner.
At age six, she moved to San Francisco and spent the rest of her life there.
Mrs. Selix attended Sutro, Presidio and Galileo High School.
She was married to Alfred Selix. Mr. Selix predeceased his wife.
Mrs. Selix is survived by her daughters Lynn Blankfort (Steven Martin) and Susan (Randy) Karsh; grandchildren Robin (Eric) Nedzi, Todd (Naomi Gray) Blankfort, Greg Karsh and Casey (Brett) Perry; and six great-grandchildren.
