Isadore Itz Rosenblatt, a respected member of Pueblos Jewish community for decades, passed away Aug. 5, 2009, in Pueblo. He was 95.
Mark Zalkin officiated at the Aug. 7 graveside service at Bnai Jacob Cemetery. Arrangements were made by Montgomery & Steward Funeral Directors Inc.
Those who knew him will remember his pleasant, friendly manner, his quick wit and humor, the family said.
He was born June 8, 1914, in Salt Lake City, Utah. The family moved to Pueblo when Itz was a young teen.
One year, Mr. Rosenberg was selected to attend AZAs national convention in Washington, DC. Unfortunately, he didnt have enough money to get there so he and fellow AZAers Joe Kark and Lovey Borinsky hopped the trains and rode on top of the boxcars.
He was proud that he helped several young men in Pueblos Jewish community find work in the Great Depression.
He married Reva Factoroff of Denver on Nov. 15, 1936. They made their home in Pueblo.
On Nov. 15, 1961, Mrs. Rosenblatt was killed when the couples car slid off an icy highway on the way to Denver, where they planned to celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary.
Mr. Rosenblatt was affiliated with Pueblo Auto Parts (Big 4) as bookkeeper and manager for more than 65 years. He liked speaking Spanish with customers and friends.
Mr. Rosenblatt, who co-founded Pueblos chapter of the Zionist Organization of America, was active in the United Hebrew Center and many philanthropic causes.
Mr. Rosenblatt is survived by his four children Sally Emr of California, Elaine (Marty) Levitin of New York, Faye Rosenblatt and Gerald Rosenblatt, both of Pueblo; grandchildren Art (Jeddah) Emr, Jon (Valerie) Emr, Joel (Michelle) Levitin and Deborah (Bruce) Markowitz; and six great-grandchildren.
