Isabel Rose Make

Isabel Make

Isabel Rose Make, a longtime educator and avid volunteer in retirement, passed away unexpectedly April 2, 2021, at her home in Aurora. She was 73. Rabbi Joe Black officiated at the April 8 graveside service at Emanuel Cemetery. Feldman Mortuary made the arrangements.

“Isabel was known for her spirited views, sharp insight and keen wit,” her friends and colleagues said. “She was socially outgoing and opinionated, and had good friends throughout the country.”

Mrs. Make, originally from Philadelphia, worked in the reading lab at Metropolitan State University of Denver, where taught best practices and emerging innovations.

She also ran her own business, packaging her homemade baked goods in antique dishware and distributing them to clients throughout the world.

Mrs. Make served on the Greenwood Village Arts Council and helped establish a dedicated youth arts space called A Space of My Own at the Curtis Center for the Arts.

She is featured in her son Jeremy Make’s art-fueled documentary “kART Across America.”

An active member of Temple Emanuel, Mrs. Make rarely missed Friday night Shabbat services in spite of her ailing health.

Isabel Make is survived by her brother Michael Rose (Linda Rosenfeld); sons Jonathan (Courtney Schlisserman) and Jeremy (Nora); and grandsons Noah, Sydney and Francis.

Donations may be made to Temple Emanuel; National Endowment for the Arts; or UNICEF.
