Isaac Green

Isaac Green, an RN at Presbyterian/St. Luke’s Hospital for three decades, passed away May 27, 2018, in Denver. Rabbi Eliot Baskin officiated at the graveside service at Ft. Logan National Cemetery. Feldman Mortuary made the arrangements.

Mr. Green was born Nov. 25, 1947, in a displaced persons camp in Munich, Germany to Holocaust survivors the late Ezra and Anna Green.

The family came to the US in 1950 and settled in Memphis, Tenn.

They moved to Denver in 1951 to be near Ezra’s nephew Morris Garnek and his family.

Mr. Green grew up on the West Side and attended Colfax Elementary, Lake Junior and North High School.

He earned a BA in English and a BSN in nursing at CU.

Mr. Green, who enlisted in the Marine Corps during the Vietnam era, served from 1970 to 1973.

“His most difficult challenge and proudest accomplishment was becoming a Marine,” the family said.

Mr. Green enjoyed his 30-year career at Presbyterian/St. Luke’s, where his co-workers became lifelong friends.

“His compassion, loyalty and keen sense of humor will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him,” said longtime friend and fellow nurse Diane Knecht.

Mr. Green is survived by his cousins Tilly (Howard) Rollin, Joe Garnek and Ida Garnek of Denver, Sam Garnek, Sam (Stephanie) Landau and Mike (Debra) Landau of California and Tsipora (Yehuda) Obuz of Israel.

He is also mourned by friends and colleagues Jim (Sally) Simmons, Diane (Eric Holgerson) Knecht and Colleen (Rick) Gullickson.
