Ida Chandler, a longtime sales associate at May D&F and Foleys, passed away Nov. 23, 2010, in Denver.
Rabbi Bruce Dollin and Cantor Martin Goldstein officiated at the Nov. 24 graveside service at Golden Hill Cemetery. Shalom Funeral Service made the arrangements.
Ida took great pride in attending the HEA for Shabbat services every week and in participating in the daily activities of her beloved family, they said. She lived her life as she wanted to until the very last moment before her death.
Ida Pichersky was born Oct. 13, 1920, in Denver to the late Dora and Morris Pichersky. She grew up in Chicago and graduated from Tuley High School.
After working for May Co. Department Stores, she moved to Denver in 1948.
She married Morris Chandler on July 6, 1952. Mr. Chandler passed away on April 27, 1972.
After her husbands death, Mrs. Chandler went back to work at May D&F, which later became Foleys.
Her sales career continued for over 28 years.
The recipient of the first Diamond Star award for service, Mrs. Chandler retired from Foleys hosiery department at the age of 82.
She was a life member of Hadassah.
Mrs. Chandler is survived by her children Norman Chandler and Vivian (Philip) Singer; grandchildren Melissa (Joshua) Close, Rebecca (Lorin) Meskin and Nathaniel Singer; great-grandson Jacob Raphael Close; and sister Rae Dunevitz.
