Ice cream

What is it about summer and ice cream? Do you know anyone, grown-up or child alike,  who doesn’t have an affection for this frozen confection? If you do, I would seriously suspect something might be wrong. . .

From age two to eighty two, ice cream is that treat with whimsy that bridges generations. Everyone loves a round scoop of cold creamy ice cream nesting perfectly atop a crunchy brown waffle cone.

For summer birthday gifts, I say a year’s worth of ice cream pints, a pint a month, now that would make a nice gift.

Ice cream is not a typical dessert. It won’t always be there. It doesn’t stand still, it must be eaten as soon as you have it. It might be  gone, melted into a puddle.

Unlike any other food,  an ice cream cone  is the culinary symbol  of fun summer experiences, and licking an ice cream cone brings you that feeling of being as happy as a little kid again. This frosty treat or dessert never goes out of style.

And when you need to rationalize health or an extra portion for kids, you can simply push it between two cookies and hand it  out for lunch. Here, a sandwhich.

Once summer hits, ice cream enthusiasts and devotees start dominating the streets, walking along, with different colored ice cream scoops crowning their cones, being happily devoured.

Ice cream is out there. Everywhere.

A perfect summer’s day, for sure, involves an ice cream cone in hand.

When the heat waves hit, or even just  ordinary hot summer days, an ice cream run is in order! Then when you feel that divinely delicious coldness on your tastebuds, everything feels right with the world.
