Choosing a candidate: Try ‘I Side With’

Election_2016There’s no debating that, thus far, the 2016 presidential campaign has been incredibly negative. Although there are some people positive about the contenders, most of the rhetoric has been filled with bashing — whether of people or the current situation in the US — and it seems that a heck of a lot of people have a negative view of both Trump and Clinton. This goes beyond the normal of negativity; we’re in the realm of “haters” — Never Clintons and Never Trumpers that cannot stomach the thought of the respective candidate reaching the White House.

For some, clear Clinton and/or Trump supporters, the choice is clear. For others, far less so. There’s been talk about choosing the lesser of two evils or the evil of two lesser. There’s been talk about growing support for third-party candidate Gary Johnson. There’s been lots of talk about voters just staying away.

To those people in that second, undecided, group, we offer you a solution: ISideWith.com. This handy online tool provides a series of questions to answer, after which you are presented with the candidate you “side with.” The questionnaire is very flexible, allowing users to answer further questions on any given topic, and provides the options of nuanced answers beyond “yes” and  “no.” For example, one can be pro-choice, but not after three months, or pro-life, but not in the cases of incest or rape. Even more, users can rate the importance any given question has for them.

So if you’re struggling to make a choice, why not an algorithm decide? You might be surprised by your results!
