Hilda Goss of San Marino, Calif., passed away Sept. 19, 2009, at her home, surrounded by her family.
Rabbis Edward Feinstein, Harold Shulweiss, Joshua Hoffman, Susan Leider and Joshua Grater officiated at the Sept. 21 service at Mountain Sinai Memorial Park in Los Angeles.
For all who knew her, she set the path of love, spirituality and strength to follow, the family said.
She was extremely devoted to her Judaism, and this spilled over to two generations. It was important for her to continue learning and sharing with anyone and everyone in her path.
Hilda Goss was born Feb. 16, 1935, in Jersey City, NJ, the eldest of two girls born to Erna and Sam Baris.
She married Dr. Leonard M. Goss on June 26, 1955. They made their lives in Southern California.
Mrs. Goss graduated from the University of Southern California with a bachelors degree in psychology.
For 20 years, she worked with her husband in their pharmacy. After Dr. Goss retirement, the couple traveled to visit their grandchildren and also ran the ritual functions at their synagogue, Congregation Shaarei Torah in Arcadia, Calif.
Dr. Goss passed away in 2003.
Mrs. Goss loved Israeli folk dancing and participated in classes several times a week, even while visiting family in Denver and Jerusalem.
She also volunteered at Union Station in Pasadena, Calif.
Mrs. Goss is survived by her children Ken (Karen) Goss of Michigan, Stu (Yael) Goss of Israel, Ron (Mimi) Goss of Colorado, Jeff (Karen) Goss of Tarzana, Calif., and Sharon (Michael) Bacharach of Los Angeles; 15 grandchildren; and sister Marcia (Ed) Berkowitz of Wayne, NJ.
