Hezbollah and the explosion in Lebanon

There are three effects of the ammonium nitrate explosion in Beirut: the human suffering, the political breakdown, and the media silence on the underlying cause of the explosion.

Because the human suffering is by now well known, and the same is true of the political breakdown, we shall concentrate on the silence — the Hezbollah cover-up. The proximate cause of the explosion was a complete breakdown in normal government process. Right in front of their face, with the threat made amply clear, the functionaries of the Lebanese government could not get the chemicals removed. This one blames that one who blames the other. Why? On this the media fall silent.

The reason is the dysfunction and distortion introduced into the Lebanese government and Lebanese society by Hezbollah. This terrorist organization diverts essential government services and funds to an irrational, hate-filled, Shiite-Islamic based, fanatical hatred of the one non-Islamic, predominantly non-Arab state in the region: Israel. When government entities do not have the personnel or the funds to carry out their defined duties, massive breakdowns — such as the lethal, seven-year (!) delay in the removal of these chemical in plain sight — occur.

If the world were determined to rid Lebanon of Hezbollah, Lebanon could function, disasters could be avoided and peace might ensue.
