Harry Zimmerman, former owner of Champa Linen Service Co. in Denver, passed away March 26, 2009, in Denver. He was 97.
Services were held March 29 at Mt. Nebo Cemetery, with Rabbi Steven Kaye officiating. Feldman Mortuary made the arrangements.
Harrys positive outlook on life and people in general drew people to him, the family said. He could reminisce for hours about places he had been and the people he knew over the course of his 97 years.
His mental acuity and physical health were remarkable up until the very day he died. He left a wonderful loving legacy for his family and all who were touched by him.
Mr. Zimmerman was born July 20, 1911, in Denver. He graduated East High and attended DU.
During WW II, Mr. Zimmerman served as flight engineer in the US Army Air Corp. He belonged to the Composite Air Group that dropped the atomic bombs on Japan to bring the war to a close.
He married Miriam Zimmerman in 1939 in Denver. She passed away in November, 2007.
After her death, Mr. Zimmerman moved to Heritage Club Mountain View, where he made many friends.
He is survived by his children Myron Zimmerman of Denver and Jerold and Dodie Zimmerman of Rochester, NY; grandchildren Dyan and David Kolb of Los Angeles, Mark Zimmerman of Denver, Ryan Zimmerman of Los Angeles, Daniel and William Taylor of Denver and Amy and Thom Beckett of Breckenridge; and great-grandchildren Conner and Easton Beckett of Breckenridge and Jillian Taylor of Denver.
