Harold Leventhal, co-owner with his late wife Frayde of the Squire Shop, a popular mens clothing retailer in North Cherry Creek, passed away Oct. 9, 2013, in Denver.
Rabbi Ben Greenberg and Cantor Joel Lichterman officiated at the Oct. 11 graveside service at Rose Hill Cemetery. Feldman Mortuary made the arrangements.
Harold was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather, the family said. He will always be remembered for his love of life and family.
Mr. Leventhal was born Jan. 10, 1922, in Denver. He graduated North High and earned a BA from CU.
A PFC with the US Army in WW II, Mr. Leventhal interrogated German POWs for the Prisoner of War Guard Detachment, Service Command Unit 1747 at Fort Riley, Kan. During his interrogations, Mr. Leventhal made sure to let prisoners know that he was Jewish. He was honorably discharged on May 26, 1945.
On June 11, 1944, he married Frayde Sobel. Co-owners of the Squire Shop, they were married more than 66 years until her death on Oct. 19, 2010.
An avid golfer, Mr. Leventhal was a regular in Blackhawk.
Mr. Leventhal is survived by his sons Jim and Steve (Renee) Leventhal; and grandchildren Sean (Jaynee), Adam and Jake Leventhal.
