Hank Masarky, a chemical and metallurgical engineer, passed away March 16, 2016, in Centennial. Rabbis Joe Black and Steven Foster and Cantor Elizabeth Sacks officiated at the March 18 service at Temple Emanuel. Interment followed at Emanuel Cemetery. Feldman Mortuary made the arrangements.
“He was a loving father, grandfather and friend to everyone he knew,” the family said. “He will be greatly missed, and we will always have wonderful memories of him.”
Mr. Masarky was born Feb. 8, 1920, in Brooklyn, NY. He lived in Brooklyn and Tenafly, NJ, before moving to Denver.
A graduate of Green Valley High School, he served as a first lieutenant in the US Army’s Chemical Corp, 1942-1946, and earned the American Campaign Medal and WW II Victory Medal.
Mr. Masarky received a BA in engineering from New York University.
He was married to Bobbe Oberfelder from 1945 until September, 1981, when she passed away. His longtime companion was the late Liz Shwayder-Kelly.
A chemical and metallurgical engineer with Union Oil, Mr. Masarky specialized in construction and project engineering.
Mr. Masarky is survived by his daughter Susan Patston and son Art (Barb) Masarky; grandchildren Ashley Patston, Brett Masarky, Scott Masarky and Jennifer Riech; and great-grandchild Rudy Murdock.
