All hail the #grillmaster

When Chayim and Jennie Gerson gave their dad Rabbi Bernard Gerson a charcoal barbecue grill for Father’s Day some 13 years ago, little did they know that it would eventually turn into a beloved hobby — one that has graduated into #grillmaster.
The Gerson “kids” were in high school when they gifted the grill, and Bernie Gerson was in the midst of his career as rabbi of Rodef Shalom. In those days, the rabbi’s Sundays were usually co-opted by meetings, funerals, weddings or classes, leaving little time for family, but he occasionally found time for enjoyable summer grilling.
That changed in 2018 when Gerson retired from the rabbinate, freeing up Sundays for more time at the grill.
