long last, Maurice Rose will be coming home to Denver. Not in the flesh, of course, since the much decorated US Army major general died from enemy fire in the waning days of the European theater of WW II. And not in terms of being buried here either, since Rose’s body has reposed in an American military cemetery in the Netherlands since shortly after his death and isn’t going anywhere. But in terms of his indominable spirit and image — yes, Rose will be coming home, in the form of an 18-foot statue which, if all goes as expected, will be erected next year in Veterans Memorial Park in central Denver, in the shadow of the Colorado State Capitol.
