Goldene Rydell

Goldene Edith Rydell, 92, of Overland Park, Kan., passed away Sept. 30, 2008. Graveside services were held Oct. 2 at Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Arrangements were made by the Louis Memorial Chapel.

Mrs. Rydell was born in Kansas City, Mo., where she was a lifelong resident.

A member of Kehilath Israel, she was Rabbi Maurice Solomon’s secretary prior to her marriage.

Together with her husband Milton Rydell, she co-owned Rydell Custom Tailor in Brookside for 26 years. She retired in 1978.

Mr. Rydell passed away in 1984.

A member of Hadassah and the Kehilath Israel Sisterhood, Mrs. Rydell belonged to the Midwest Center for Holocaust Education, the US Holocaust Museum and numerous other organizations.

She volunteered at the Hadassah Thrift Center for 28 years and was volunteer administrator for the New American Club, a Holocaust survivors’ organization in Kansas City.

She also served as a Yiddish language interpreter at Menorah Medical Center for newly arrived Jewish Russian immigrants in the late 1970s and early 1980s.

Mrs. Rydell is survived by her daughters Carol (Gary Langston) Rydell of Kansas City, Mo., and Jana (Sam) Fisherowitz of Denver; brother Sam Gottlieb and sister Esther Bitner; grandchildren Marla Hadassah Fisherowitz and Deena Fisherowitz, both of Denver; and brother- and sister-in-law Maury and Eva Rydell.
