Get off the couch — and into the wilderness

By Raphael Bein Adventures seeks to bring Jews out of their home and into the wilderness, organizing camping and wilderness excursions that accommodate traditional laws and customs. The trips visit sites such as the Sangre de Cristo Mountains or Dark Valley, Utah. Ari Hoffman, owner of the business, founded the company in 2011 when he realized that the wilderness trips he so often enjoyed would be much more sustainable if there was pay involved. As a psychotherapist, he knows the mental value of exercise and wilderness exposure, and saw the business venture as a way to provide a therapeutic experience to members of the Jewish community.
