Dr. Gerald H. Zuckerman, a Denver physician for 53 years, passed away March 3, 2011, in Denver.
Rabbi Bruce Dollin and Cantors Martin Goldstein and Maurice Weiss officiated at the service, held March 6 at the HEA. Interment followed at Emanuel Cemetery. Feldman Mortuary made the arrangements.
Dr. Zuckerman and his brother Dr. Hyman Zuckerman primarily served families living in north Denver, as well as friends and relatives from the east and southeast Denver Jewish communities.
The Chaffee Family Physicians Office was, in many ways, like a Jewish delicatessen, where you came for a good kibbitz and extraordinary health care, Charles Goldberg said in his eulogy.
Never once did Jerry say no to anyone when a medical need arose. He would see anyone without the need of an appointment and without concern for compensation, he said.
Dr. Zuckerman was born Nov. 8, 1923, in Denver, where he lived his entire life.
He received his undergraduate degree from DU and did his internship and residency in internal medicine in Ann Arbor, Mich.
Dr. Zuckerman, who served in the US Navy during WW II, was in practice with his brother Dr. Hyman Zuckerman and Dr. Leizor Molk.
He married Sharon Zeppelin on March 15, 1975.
Active with the Allied Jewish Federation, JFS and several other Jewish groups, he belonged to numerous medical societies.
Dr. Zuckerman retired four years ago.
A sports enthusiast, he was an avid golfer, skier and tennis player.
Dr. Zuckerman is survived by his wife Sharon Zuckerman of Denver; children Marla (Don) Jacobson, Jan (Amiclar) Zuckerman and Jonathan, Tayla Zuckerman and Joel (Tiffany) Zuckerman; grandchildren Leah, Gabriel and Sandro Alvarez and JJ and Robin Zuckerman; and brothers Dr. Hyman (Lil) Zuckerman and Daniel (Lois) Zuckerman.
