Gary Feld

Gary Feld, 55, passed away January 31, 2009. Rabbi Bruce Dollin and Cantor Martin Goldstein officiated at the Feb. 2 graveside service at Rose Hill Cemetery. Feldman Mortuary made the arrangements.

Gary had been developmentally disabled since birth.

His family said:

“Gary, a member of our Jewish community for 55 years, never had the benefit of a Bar Mitzvah announcement, wedding announcement, birth announcement or accolades of any kind. His life had more purpose than that, yet it was never documented in any way.

“Gary never spoke an unkind word, had an unkind thought or wronged another person. He was a man so close to perfection that his mission in repairing the world, his part in tikkun olam, required no action, simply his existence.

“He was cared for by the angels day in and day out for his entire life. The care that he received is the essence of mitzvot –– an entirely altruistic and selfless act that begins as a simple gesture to ease the suffering of another, and grows until it ultimately makes the world a better place. It is the highest form of mitzvot because these people receive no thanks from those for whom they care, other than an expression on their faces indicating that their suffering has been eased.”

Gary is the son of Nathan B. (Betty Sue) Feld and the late Esther Feld, and the brother of Sherry Roth, Steve (Barbara) Feld and Sandy (Lisa) Feld.
