Gail Dym

Gail Dym

Gail Dym, a third-generation Denver native and member of Denver’s Heller family, passed away on Sept. 12, 2021. Funeral services were held at Mt. Nebo Memorial Park on Sept. 14, with Rabbi Yaakov Chaitovsky and Cantor Martin Goldstein officiating.

“Wherever Gail went she ran into someone she knew,” Mrs. Dym’s family said. “It seemed that she knew everyone in Denver and that everyone in Denver knew her.”

Mrs. Dym was born on May 11, 1938, and grew up in Denver’s West Side, attending Cheltenham Elementary, Lake Middle School and North High. She attended the University of Texas at Austin before returning to Denver.

In 1958, Gail met David Dym; they were married that year. David Dym is a native of Zurich, Switzerland.

Mrs. Dym was a longtime member of Hadassah, and was membership director at the JCC. She was also director of Young Judea.

Dym’s family noted that Shabbat dinners were a staple of the household, and that holiday traditions were an important part of family life.

The Dym family lived in Denver’s East Side for 57 years before Gail and David moved to Brookdale Parkplace in 2017.

Fashion was an integral part of Gail’s life; first working at May Co., then at her mother’s (Charlotte Heller) Four Seasons Fashions, followed by becoming a sales associate at Neiman Marcus in Cherry Creek Mall.

Gaill Dym is survived by her husband and four children, including Julie (Ed) Gendelman of Denver, Cary (Leigh) Dym of Asbury Park, NJ, Simone (Bruce) Robertson of Greenville, SC, and Marc (Cally) Dym of Mendocino, CA. Gail and David have 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
