Found in translation: Winner of Man Booker Prize lives in Denver

Americans reading a Hebrew novel or any foreign-language book in English are oblivious to the fact that two people are responsible for this literary sojourn — the author, and the translator. Jessica Cohen, who has translated some of Israel’s most renowned contemporary writers, corrects this misconception with each Hebrew book she brings alive for English speakers. “The audience should realize that someone has spent lots of time and creative energy in order to make books from other cultures available to English-only readers,” she says from Israel.
