Florence Ann Flo Coopersmith, a Denver native and longtime resident, passed away May 16, 2011, in Houston. She was 88. A memorial service was held May 17 at Seven Acres Jewish Senior Care Center in Houston.
She was a giver, not a taker, and all who knew her loved her gentle kindness, the family said.
Florence Rush was born April 27, 1923, in Denver.
She grew up in Center, Colo. After graduating Center High, she attended technical school and became a stenographer.
At the end of WW II, she married Jack Coopersmith. They divorced in 1990.
In Denver, Mrs. Coopersmith was active at Hillel Academy and ran the gift shops at Beth Joseph Synagogue and the Beth Israel Home for the Aged. She was treasurer and president of her Hadassah chapter.
In 2004, Mrs. Coopersmith moved to Houston.
She is survived by two daughters, Radine and Ellen Coopersmith; grandchildren Nathan and Shanah Schaffer, Nick and Ryan Roller and Cooper Hawkins; and great-grandchildren Ayana, Zachary and Allison Schaffer.
