Flora Ann Towbin, a Denver native and registered nurse, passed away on her birthday, June 22, 2009, in Colorado Springs, Colo. Steve Kapnik officiated at the June 23 service held at Rose Hill Cemetery. Arrangements were made by Feldmans Mortuary.
Flora was a devoted inspiration to the health and well-being of her husband, children, extended family and friends, her family said.
Born June 22, 1912, in Denver, Flora graduated North High in 1930 and received her RN degree from St. Anthonys Hospital in 1934.
Flora married Dr. Milton Towbin on Dec. 23, 1934.
A nurse for 20 years, Mrs. Towbin also helped out at her husbands medical practice.
Dr. Towbin passed away in 2003.
An all-star tennis player in high school, Mrs. Towbin co-founded a book club that met for over 65 years.
Mrs. Towbin is survived by her children Elaine Lustig of Denver, Jane Jacobs of Colorado Springs, Martin Towbin of Weed, Calif., and Kenneth Towbin of Washington, DC; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
