Fifty Holocausts and fifty raises

The unmalleable mind of Mahmoud Abbas

“Fifty Holocausts.”

Anyone who can articulate this obviously has no clue as to the evil and extent of the Holocaust. Yet, standing next to the German chancellor, no less, Mahmoud Abbas said that Israel committed “50 Holocausts” against the Palestinians.

Abbas, the head of the Palestinian Authority, said this in English, switching from Arabic. Usually, it’s the other way around. Usually, anti-Israel, Arab leaders disguise their true intentions while speaking in Arabic, but then sanitize them in English. Not Abbas.

He is a longtime Holocaust denier. He’s written extensively on it, starting with his doctoral thesis. Needless to say, his words did not go down well in Germany. The German chancellor said he was “disgusted by the outrageous remarks made by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.

“For us Germans in particular, any relativization of the singularity of the Holocaust is intolerable and unacceptable. I condemn any attempt to deny the crimes of the Holocaust.”

“Fifty” Holocausts is obviously an ill executed attempt at exaggeration. In another context, however, “fifty” might just be the appropriate term for another disgusting turn of Abbas’ mind.

We refer to the “raises” that Abbas instituted for Palestinian terrorists held by, or killed by, Israel, and their families. A problem: inflation! The “salaries” that the Palestinian Authority — under Abbas’ leadership, approval and encouragement — pay to murderers and their families must now be inflated to meet the times.

We wouldn’t want to discriminate against these hard working terrorists and their poor families, would we?

So here we are: a 14.2% monthly raise in salary for the Palestinian terrorists who bombed the cafeteria at The Hebrew University in Jerusalem on July 31, 2002, according to Palestinian Media Watch.

In that attack, the following people lost their lives: Janice Routh Coulter, 36; Dinah Carter, 38; David Gritz, 24; Daphna Spruch, 61; Ladina Shapira, 53; Benjamin Blustein, 25; David Ladowski, 29; Revital Barashi, 30; and Marla Bennet, 24.

They were sitting and eating in Jerusalem. That was their crime. Don’t think that we mention Jerusalem just to identify the location of their murder. Not at all. In addition to the 14.2% raise in salaries, the terrorists also receive a supplement of 300 shekels ($96) monthly . . . because they were residents of Jerusalem! In the Palestinian Authority policy, the holier the place, the more deserving the murderer.

Don’t stop at 300 shekels. That’s the supplement, not the salary. The salary for each of the murderers was (before the “raise”) 7,000 shekels ($2,251) per month. Tack on the 14.2% raise and the monthly salary is now 8,000 shekels ($2,572) per month.

Don’t stop at 8,000 shekels. Add up how much these terrorists have been paid since 2002. It comes to roughly eight million shekels or $2.5 million.

These are the recipients of all this money: Wael Qaffem, Wassim Abassi, Allah Aldin Abassi and Muhammed Odeh.

Don’t stop there. Four other terrorists were convicted of participating in the attack.

Don’t stop there. Besides the nine Jews who were murdered, 80 other people were injured. Indeed, these terrorists worked overtime — more than deserving of a 14.2% raise, wouldn’t you say?

We said 50 raises. Scratch that. We have offered here a mere sample. As realistic as “50 Holocausts” is “50 raises.” However, in truth, it does not matter what the real number is. One raise is obscene. One terrorist’s “salary” is obscene. Yet, this is day-to-day life under the Palestinian Authority. This is the group that the BDS advocates and salutes as the wronged party in the conflict.
