Allied Jewish Federation of Colorado has appointed Michael and Debbie Feiner as national General Assembly (GA) co-chairs, in partnership with Steve and Judy Silverman of Jacksonville, Fla.
The 2011 GA will be in Denver, Nov. 6-9, 2011.
The Intermountain Jewish News will mark the occasion with the publication of Welcome to the GA Magazine, Nov. 4.
The commemorative magazine will be mailed to all subscribers and will be provided to all GA attendees from around the world.
The GA attracts the most influential decision makers from Jewish communities across the globe.
Last years GA in New Orleans hosted Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and US Vice President Joe Biden.
Originally from Cleveland, Ohio, the Feiners have played an integral role in the Colorado Jewish community.
Michael Feiner has been involved with the federation both locally and nationally in several capacities. He has been campaign chair, endowment chair and past president, and also was a member of the Coordinating Council.
He has also served on the boards of National Jewish Health, Rose Medical Center Foundation, ADL and Temple Emanuel, and was a founding member of the National Jewish Leadership Forum in Aspen.
Debbie Feiner has served in the federations womens division in many roles, and was president of National Jewish Healths womens division.
We are delighted to have Michael and Debbie Feiner represent our Jewish community and lead the GA in Denver, working in tandem with the Silvermans, co-chairs of last years GA in New Orleans, said Judy Robins, chair of the Coordinating Council.
They will certainly help the federation create a memorable experience for the more than 3,000 Jewish leaders who will join us in Denver.
AJF is currently working on four legs of the table involved in hosting the GA.
These will include sponsoring a Colorado-themed celebratory event; coordinating volunteers to help during the conference; hosting a day of service to benefit local Jewish and non-Jewish charities; and recruiting a large delegation of local participants to attend the GA for the first time.
This years GA will feature inspiring speakers and events as well as ways to get involved in building Jewish community worldwide, said Michael Feiner.
We are excited about the local programs that the federation is hosting around the GA to highlight Colorado and our vibrant local Jewish community.

The GA is the signature event of JFNA and the worlds largest Jewish philanthropic conference.
GA plenaries, forums and break-out sessions focus on timely issues on Jewish continuity, Israel advocacy and critical safety-net needs.
JFNA represents 157 Jewish federations and 400 network communities, which collectively raise and distribute more than $3 billion annually for social welfare, social services, and educational needs.
