Federation phonathon at BMH-BJ, then at AJF office to be held March 13

The Allied Jewish Federation will sponsor Super Sunday: A Community Tzedakah Day Sunday on March 13, 9 a.m.-9 p.m., at BMH-BJ, and on Monday, March 14, 5-8:30 p.m., at the AJF office.

Chairs are Yosh and Orly Eisbart and David and Melanie Weitzenfeld.

Super Sunday will be a day-long, community-wide phonathon through which people in Denver and Boulder may donate to the AJFflagship fund for the 2011 campaign.

The day will also feature activities for children, a children’s book drive, information about the upcoming General Assembly (“GA”) of the Jewish Federations of North America, Nov. 6-9.

Also featured will be AJF’s young adult department’s “Tzedakah Happy Hour” in the evening, chaired by Josh Yeddis and Talya Zuckerman.

David Weitzenfeld said, “Melanie and I realize the integral role the Allied Jewish Federation serves to support organizations and individuals in Denver and abroad.

“We are excited to be involved in such an important event as Super Sunday to help fund their efforts in 2011 and beyond.”

Yosh Eisbart shared, “Orly and I are tremendously excited about being a part of this very important Colorado Jewish fundraising initiative.

“Being relatively new to Colorado, we have already experienced first-hand the importance of the Federation.

“Everyone understands how vital Super Sunday is to the greater Denver Jewish community. Orly and I are looking forward to helping make this successful again this year.”

Federation President and CEO Doug Seserman explains, “Our goal is to have every Jewish institution that serves our community—agencies, organizations, synagogues, day schools, youth groups, and other—take part in what we hope will be a very special day dedicated to tzedakah, gemilut hasadim and tikkun olam.

“We are calling this ‘Super Sunday: A Community Tzedakah Day’ because it is truly about ‘community’— coming together to build and strengthen our community while giving back. It promises to be a great day.”

Federation’s campaign and Jewish Philanthropy Center Chair Elaine Asarch says:

“We ask local, community agencies to join us on Super Sunday.

“For each donation they receive by phone that day, Federation will donate 50% of new and increased gifts to their agency.

“As we work together as a team, Federation raises funds for the organization to allocate locally and overseas. It’s a true partnership”
