writing has become a lost art, even for many senior citizens. However, for Denver native Evelyn “Pasty” Shafner this was not the case. Raised on the West Side of Denver, the former Evelyn Golden grew up in an Orthodox family, Before moving to the West Side, Shafner attended Teller Elementary School in Congress Park for only two weeks before she moved with her family to her grandparent’s house on Federal Blvd. Shafner attended CU Boulder for three years, from age 17 to 20, where she received her degree in teaching.
