Ethel Scher

Denver native Ethel Freed Scher passed away on January 11, 2023, at the age of 92. A service was held on January 13 at Rose Hill Cemetery, officiated by Rabbi Mordechai Fleisher. Feldman Mortuary made the arrangements.

Born on June 8, 1930, Mrs. Scher grew up on Denver’s West Side. Her parents ran Freed’s Pharmacy on West Colfax. Mrs. Scher attended Cheltenham Elementary and North High School.

In the 1960s and 70s Mrs. Scher was a religious school educator, including at the Hebrew Educational Alliance.

“She really enjoyed socializing,” said Mrs. Scher’s son, Gary. “Her later years were a continued dinner party. She got in conversations with strangers, and really enjoyed it.

“She had a really great memory, too, right up until she passed away.”

Survivors are Mrs. Scher’s son Gary; and grandchildren Daniel and Alexander Scher.
