Esther Lustig

Esther LustigEsther Lustig, a longtime member of the Denver Jewish community, passed away Sept. 11, 2015. Funeral services, with Rabbi Steven Foster officiating, took place Sept. 13 at Rose Hill Cemetery. Feldman Mortuary made the arrangements.

A native of Poland, Ms. Lustig was born June 3, 1928 and came to Denver in her youth. She was a graduate of North High School and worked as a comptroller for Mountain Bell.

According to Ms. Lustig’’s family, “Esther enjoyed family, friends and travel and in her later years developed an appreciation for the Denver Broncos. She was very close to her sister Miriam and her brother-in-law Milton and lived with them for many years.”

She was active with the Telephone Pioneers and Hadassah.

Ms. Lustig was the sister of Sam Lustig; and the aunt of Sheila (Rick) Bugdanowitz, Carol (the late John) Sobel, Jerry (Bette Layman) Greenblatt,  Phill (Carol Jo) Greenblatt, Merle (Ron Glass) Lustig, Brooke Lustig, Heidi (Robert Fulgham) Lustig, Michael Lustig, Cheri Toll and Ivan Lustig. She is also survived by 13 grand and 15 great-grand nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by sisters Miriam (Milton) Sherman, Goldie (Jake) Greenblatt, brother Nathan (Ada Snyder and Libby Howard) Lustig; and her niece Sandy Weinstein.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to JFS, 3201 S. Tamarac Dr., Denver, CO 80231; or to the Denver Hospice, 501 S. Cherry St., #700, Denver, CO 80246.
