Ernestine Barany

Ernestine Morgenstern Barany, who escaped the Nazis by fleeing to England, passed away Feb. 9, 2019, in Littleton. Rabbi Eliot Baskin officiated at the Feb. 21 graveside service at Fairmount Cemetery. Feldman Mortuary made the arrangements.

Mrs. Barany was born March 8, 1926, in Vienna, Austria, and escaped to England, where she attended the Cambridge and County School for Girls in Cambridge.

She came to the US in 1947.

Ernestine was married to Charles D. Harrell from 1947-1975. He passed away in 2010.

She was married to George Barany from 1981 until his death in 2001.

A resident of El Paso, Texas, Albuquerque, NM, and New Jersey, Mrs. Barany moved to Denver in 1959.

She studied medical terminology at the Emily Griffith Opportunity School.

Mrs. Barany worked in the banking industry, advancing from teller to loan officer.

She then worked as a medical secretary at the CU Health Sciences Center.

Mrs. Barany is survived by her sons Richard (Dawn) Harrell of Littleton and Robert (Kristin Kuhlmann) Harrell of Portales, NM; grandchildren Rachael, Wynston and Richard Jr.; great-grandchild Lincoln Eastridge, all of Littleton; and sister Anita Kafton of London.
