Oh, Roseanne. What are we going to do with you?
You’ve always been an enigma, especially to the Jewish community. Although you can be crass and crude, you’ve always been a fiercely proud Jew. We didn’t always know what to make of that because your comedy and personal actions are often embarassing, and not in line with Jewish values.
Recently, you seem to have mellowed out and calmed down, and you came out as a passionate Zionist and even announced your desire to make aliyah one day.
Then, you go and do something repugnant like the racist tweet that got your hit show on ABC cancelled after one season.
Really? Did you think that comparing an African American woman to an ape would get chuckles, or just go unnoticed? Did you forget the anti-Semitism that you said you experienced growing up in Utah?
Roseanne, unfortunately we now know what to make of you, and it’s not good. What are we going to do with you? Ignore you, that’s what.
